Kibungo is a city of 46,000 people (2014) in eastern Rwanda, 100 km from Kigali, along the main road to Tanzania. Kibungo is a major commercial city and the administrative headquarters of the Ngoma District, situated in the Eastern Province of Rwanda. Located approximately 100 kilometers southeast of the national capital, Kigali, it stands as home to roughly 46,000 residents. Positioned strategically along the primary transit corridor heading to the Tanzanian border, Kibungo is celebrated as a bustling hub for regional agricultural trade, banana wine production, and a peaceful, less-congested base camp for eco-tourists heading to Akagera National Park.
